Pre-order sales for the Steve Jobs autobiography ranked spiked to No. 1 at following the death of the Apple Inc. co-founder and former CEO.

This week, the Steve Jobs autobiography held a 32,600 percent sales increase to rank as the No. 1 product in Amazon’s Books division.

Written by Walter Isaacon, Steve Jobs is an exclusive autobiography based on more than 40 interviews with Jobs conducted over two years.

Jobs cooperated with the book, though he asked for no control over what was written or to read it before it was published.

It will be published Oct. 24.

Jobs Oct. 5 died after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He revitalized Apple’s sales with the release of the key products, including the iMac in 1998, followed by the iPod music player in 2001, iPhone smartphone in 2007, and the iPad in 2010.

Apple Inc. this week said it will release the new iPhone 4S to AT&T Inc., Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. Oct. 14 starting at $199.
