Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. this month may announce the new Nexus Prime smartphone according to a new teaser video.

This week, the company released a new video details the side profile of a new device that includes a power button and dock connector.

The video is to promote the Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2011 event to be held in San Diego, CA Oct. 11.

The Nexus Prime will reportedly include the latest version of Google Inc.’s Android OS dubbed Ice Cream Sandwich.

Ice Cream Sandwich is said to unify the Android OS for smartphone and tablet devices.

The Nexus Prime reveal would follow Apple Inc.’s announcement of the iPhone 4S.

The company this week said the iPhone 4S will be sold via AT&T Inc., Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. Oct. 14 starting at $199.

The iPhone 4S will include the A5 Dual-Core CPU, 8MP camera, 1080 HD video recording functionality, iOS 5, and a new voice command protocol called Suri.

Prior devices in the Nexus line include the Nexus S by Samsung and the Nexus One by HTC Corp.
