Apple Inc. this week said it will release the new iPhone 4S to AT&T Inc., Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. Oct. 14 at $199.

The iPhone 4S will include the A5 Dual-Core CPU, 8MP camera, 1080 HD video recording functionality, iOS 5, and a new voice command protocol called Suri.

Suri can call, text, email, remind, and offer weather, stock, traffic, direction, and definition information via voice commands.

Battery is said to offer 8 hours of 3G talk time and 10 hours of video.

Additionally, the device will merge CDMA and GSM antennas into one world phone device.

The 16GB SKU will sell at $199, 32GB at $299 and 64GB at $399.

Apple did not announce the next main update to the iPhone family, iPhone 5, at the event.

A prior report claimed the iPhone 5 will include at least a 4-inch touch-screen display and a thinner profile.

The iPhone utilizes the iOS operating system used in iPod Touch and iPad 2 products.

Sprint currently holds 52 million subscribers though less than half are non-contract customers. By comparison, Verizon Wireless holds 106 million subscribers and AT&T Inc. holds 96 million subscribers.
