Apple Inc. will host an event to announce the iPhone Oct. 4 according to a new report.

Consumer website All Things D this week claimed the company will introduce the latest iPhone model early next month.

In addition, Apple board member and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore this week reportedly mentioned “new iPhones coming next month” at a leadership summit in South Africa.

The New York Times in Sept. reported the iPhone 5 will include the A5 dual-core CPU and include an 8MP digital camera.

In addition, A prior report claimed the iPhone 5 will include at least a 4-inch touch-screen display and a thinner profile.

The iPhone utilizes the iOS operating system used in iPod Touch and iPad 2 products.

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 5 in Oct.
