Advanced sales for Microsoft Corp. and Epic Games Inc.’s Gears of War 3 for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 ranked as the top-selling game product at U.S. retailers this weekend pending release of the anticipated title.

This week, Gears of War 3 ranked as the No. 1 best-selling product in Inc.’s Video Games division, Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s online division, Best Buy Co. Inc.’s online division, and GameStop Corp.’s online division.

This week, customers who pre-order at Amazon Gears of War 3 will receive an exclusive Savage Kantus character skin.

It is concurrently offering a $20 Bonus with the pre-order purchase of Gears of War 3.

Finally, the retailer is offering a $40 Bonus with the pre-order purchase of the Xbox 360 320GB Gears of War 3 Bundle.

Gears of War 3 will be sold in a standard, Limited, and Epic Edition.

The Limited Edition SKU will include an Octus Service Medal, Adam Fenix Multiplayer Character, Fenix Family Mementos & Fabric COG Flag, and the Octus Award Box display case for the Octus Service Medal at $79.99.

Gears of War 3 Epic Edition includes Gears of War 3 Limited Edition, a collectible Marcus Fenix statue, The Art and Design of Gears of War, and the Infected Omen Weapon Pack – custom multiplayer skins for the game’s five starting weapons; Lancer, Retro Lancer, Hammerburst, Sawed-off Shotgun, and Gnasher Shotgun at $149.99.

Microsoft in Apr. released the Gears of War 3 Multiplayer Beta which includes three new multiplayer versus modes on four new maps.

In Gears of War 3, users fight as Marcus Fenix, leader of Delta Squad, 18 months after the fall of the last human city.

Gears of War 3 will be released Sept. 20, 2011.

Epic Games Inc. in Oct. said Gears of War 3 will utilize dedicated servers to facilitate online play.

The dedicated servers are said to offer balance and optimized online play. In addition, the development team has made online code improvements.

Microsoft in Sept. will sell a new limited edition Xbox 360 320GB Gears of War 3 Bundle at $399.99.

In 2012 it will sell the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Star Wars Kinect Bundle at $449.99.

Current Xbox 360 stand-alone SKUs include the Xbox 360 250GB hardware at $299.99 and the Xbox 360 4GB hardware at $199.99.

Bundle SKUs include the Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Special Edition Bundle at $399.99 and the Xbox 360 4GB with Kinect bundle at $299.99.
