Pre-order sales for Nintendo Co. Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS increased this week at Inc. post release date announcement for both titles.

This week, Super Mario 3D Land held a sales increase of 103 percent to rank at No. 87 in Amazon’s Video Games division.

Mario Kart 7 held a 24 percent sales increase to rank at No. 131 in the same period.

Super Mario 3D Land will be sold Nov. 13, while Mario Kart 7 will drop to retail Dec. 4.

Super Mario 3D Land is the first 3D Mario platform adventure and will utilize the built-in gyro sensor of the Nintendo 3DS hardware.

Mario Kart 7 will include new characters like Lakitu and Metal Mario, and offer an optional first-person driving mode controlled by the gyro-sensor.

Nintendo in Sept. said sales of the Nintendo 3DS held a 260 percent sales increase post price cut of the hardware.

Nintendo in Aug. price cut the Nintendo 3DS handheld to $169.99, 33 percent off the current $249.99 MSRP.

Nintendo in July began offering streaming functionality by Netflix Inc. and a short-form video service to view 3D movie trailers, comedy clips and music videos.

This Nov., a new system update will offer 3D video recording functionality.

Nintendo launched the Nintendo 3DS handheld with 18 software titles Mar. 27.

The Nintendo 3DS includes two screens, a 3D Depth Slider, a Circle Pad, and a 2GB SD Card.

Functionality includes StreetPass to exchange game data between owners who pass one another.

Additionally, the hardware includes the Nintendo 3DS Camera software, Mii Maker, and the Nintendo eShop to download new software.

The Nintendo 3DS includes 3-D display technology that does not require the use of special glasses.

In addition, the 3DS is backwards compatible with Nintendo DS and DSi games.
