Target Corp.’s new Missoni for Target line has sold out at retail locations and subsequently crashed the company’s website amid strong demand for the collaboration.
Retail locations held sparse inventory of clothing, bath, bedding, travel, and dishware as early bird customers nabbed as many items as possible.
From Sept. 13 morning to evening, Target.com has held intermittent service as consumers try to nab typically pricey Italian fashion house designs at affordable prices.
An attempt to access Target’s mobile site also proved futile as customers were met with error pages.
“Due to an overwhelming amount of traffic to Target.com as a result of the Missoni launch this morning, guests are unable to access the site,” Target said in a statement Tues.
“Providing a positive shopping experience to our guests is important to us and we are working to get the site back up as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Missoni, established in 1953 in Italy, is known for colorful zigzag patterns and florals across different fabrics.
The partnership with Target has resulted in the largest designer product collection yet for the discount chain, with more than 400 products from dresses to bath mats to melamine dishware.
