Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition includes a range of modes, including Single Player Arcade Mode, Trials Mode, Training Mode and Challenges to unlock in-game achievements; and Multiplayer Local Match, Ranked Match, Player Match, Tournament, Replays, Challenges, and Xbox Live Party.
In addition, users can customize the title with Smooth and Crisp Filters, Scan Lines On and Off, Arcade Cabinet, Normal, or Stretched View, Dip Switches to turn on or off options including Ground Parrying, Anti-Air Parrying, Absolute Guard, Guard Distance, and Guard Damage.
A total of 19 characters are unlocked from Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Elena, Hugo, Makoto, Ibuki, Necro, Alex, Yun, and Yang.
Controls are tight throughout with moves, combos, supers, and parrying easy to execute even on a standard controller. In addition, online play held lag-free matches with each move input properly timed in each bout.
Additionally, users can enter Recording Mode in Training Mode and upload matches straight to YouTube.
The graphics engine is sharp at 60 frames-per-second. All the animation from the classic coin-op is included in the title, from Elena’s complicated shift to Necro’s stretchy arms. The sound engine is decent with a direct port of classic sound samples.
