Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 held as the No. 1 best-selling game hardware in the latest U.S. retail data.
NPD Group Inc. this week reported that the Xbox 360 sold 277,000 units in July.
In addition, retail sales for the Xbox 360 platform including hardware, software, and accessories totaled $250 million.
Microsoft in July recorded a profit in the Xbox business amid strong demand for the hardware.
The Entertainment and Devices division, which includes the Xbox business, recorded revenue of $1.48 billion, an increase of $1.41 billion one year earlier.
The division held operating profit of $32 million compared to a loss of $172 million one year ago.
Microsoft sold 1.7 million Xbox 360 units in the quarter, an increase of 18 percent from year prior.
