Pre-order sales for Nintendo Co.’s Star Fox 64 for the Nintendo 3DS climbed this week at Amazon.com Inc. amid building demand for the remaster SKU.

This week, Star Fox 64 held a 28 percent sales increase to rank at No. 170 in Amazon’s Video Games division.

Star Fox 64, to be sold Sept. 9, is a remastered version of the Nintendo 64 classic with new 3D functionality.

It carries an MSRP of $39.99.

Nintendo Aug. 12 price cut the Nintendo 3DS handheld to $169.99, 33 percent off the former $249.99 MSRP.

The Nintendo 3DS Aqua Blue SKU and the Cosmic Black SKU hold a new MSRP of $169.99 each.

It will sell the Nintendo 3DS Flame Red SKU beginning Sept. 9.

New titles expected to boost 3DS sales include Super Mario 3D Land in Nov. and Mario Kart in Dec.

Nintendo in Apr. said the Nintendo 3DS sold 3.61 million by end of the fiscal Mar., below the company’s four million unit projection.

Nintendo in July began offering streaming functionality by Netflix Inc. and a short-form video service to view 3D movie trailers, comedy clips and music videos will be enabled in the future.

The company in July released a new system update for the Nintendo 3DS.

The Nintendo eShop online store includes a free Pokedex 3D application to allow users to view Pokemon from Pokemon Black and Pokemon White in 3D.

Nintendo released Nintendo 3DS handheld launched with 18 software titles Mar. 27.
