Media Create Co. this week said the Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in hardware sales in the latest Japan retail activity.

The PS3 sold 23,322 units between July 11 and July 17 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 22,900 the week prior.

The hardware ranked one title in the top 10, Konami Corp.’s Powerful Pro Baseball at No. 1 with 117,759 copies sold.

Sony this week said the Multiplayer Beta for Resistance 3 for the Playstation 3 will invade the Playstation Network in Aug.

Multiplayer Beta modes will include Team Deathmatch and Chain Reaction.

Sony this week said it will release Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection to U.S. retail Sept. 29.

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection will include both Playstation 2 classics remastered in high-definition at $39.99.

Sony this month said more than 1.53 million users participated in the Multiplayer Beta for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

In addition, users totaled 1.9 billion kills, 1.4 trillion dollars, 48 billion shots, and 22 million matches.

Pre-order sales for Atlus Inc.’s Catherine climbed to the top 25 sales this week GameStop Corp.’s online division amid strong demand for the action puzzler.

SNK Playmore USA Corp. this week released The King of Fighters ’95 and Baseball Stars 2 to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3 and the PSP.

In addition SNK Playmore USA Corp. this week released new SNK Arcade Classics to PSN.

The PSP sold 26,551 units for the week to rank at No. 2 in Japan.

The PSP go sold 14 units to rank No. 10 for the week.

The PSP ranked two titles in the top 10, including Little Battler Experience at No. 6 and Stein’s Gate at No. 8.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware fell under 2,000 units in the latest Japan retail figures.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,734 units between July 11 and July 17 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 2,016 units the week prior.

The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10 game sales.

Microsoft this week recorded a profit in the Xbox business amid strong demand for the hardware.

The Entertainment and Devices division, which includes the Xbox business, recorded revenue of $1.48 billion, an increase of $1.41 billion one year earlier.

The division held operating profit of $32 million compared to a loss of $172 million one year ago.

Microsoft sold 1.7 million Xbox 360 units in the quarter, an increase of 18 percent from year prior.

Microsoft this week said it will release the limited edition Xbox 360 Limited Edition Star Wars Kinect Bundle this holiday.

The bundle will include a R2-D2 blue-and-white themed 320GB console, custom Xbox 360 Wireless Controller inspired by C-3PO, white Kinect sensor, Kinect Star Wars game at $449.99.

Microsoft this week released a new System Update to the Xbox Live division of the Xbox 360.

The mandatory System Update does not include any new features and is said to prepare for new system enhancements later this year.

Capcom Co. this week announced four new characters to be included in Street Fighter X Tekken.

New characters to be found in the title include Dhalsim, Poison (Final Fight), Steve, and Yoshimitsu.

Microsoft this week announced new pre-order bonus items with the advanced purchase of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary to the Xbox 360.

Customers who pre-order the title will receive the Master Chief Avatar Armor to outfit an Xbox Live Avatar with the MJOLNIR Armor and the Grunt Funeral Skull to activate a Grunt’s methane tank to explode like a Plasma Grenade.

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment Inc. this week said it will release the Batman: Arkham City Collector’s Edition SKU.

The Batman: Arkham City Collector’s Edition SKU will include the Custom Batman Statue, Collectible Art Book, Early Access to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Skin, Batman: Arkham City Album, Bonus animated movie Batman: Gothmam Knight, and Four Collectible Cards at $99.99.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii held steady in the latest Japan retail data.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 14,237 units between July 11 and July 17 to rank No. 4 in overall sales.

By comparison, the Wii sold 13,068 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10, including Inazuma Eleven Strikers at No. 3 and Wii Sports Resort at No. 9.

Nintendo this week said StarFox 64 for the Nintendo 3DS will beam to U.S. retail Sept. 9.

StarFox 64 is a remastered version of the Nintendo 64 classic with new 3D functionality.

Nintendo this week it will launch the Nintendo Video service to the Nintendo 3DS July 27.

Nintendo Video will include short 3D videos in music, comedy, animation and Hollywood categories.

OK Go will launch a new music video and deliver the 3D version exclusively to Nintendo Video July 27th.

Additional video content will include Jason DeRulo, Foster the People, CollegeHumor, Blue Man Group, extreme sports and action videos, animation, and 3D trailers.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 46,637 units between July 11 and July 17 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The 3DS ranked two titles in the top 10, including Star Fox 64 3D at No. 6 with 32,475 units sold and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D at No. 8 with 15,636 units sold for the week.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo DSi LL sold 4,693 units to rank No. 5, the Nintendo DSi sold 4,384 to rank No. 6, and the DS Lite sold 131 units to rank No. 9 in the same period.

U.S. retailers this week began pre-order sales for EA Inc.’s Star Wars: The Old Republic for the PC.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic standard SKU sells at $59.99.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic Collector’s Edition will include the Gentle Giant Darth Malgus statue, collectible metal case, The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural, Star Wars: The Old Republic galaxy map, Music of Star Wars: The Old Republic CD, Collector’s Edition box, and seven digital items at $149.95.
