Capcom Co.’s Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS held in the top 15 sales in the latest Japan tally.

Media Create Co. this week said Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D sold 5,633 units between June 20 and June 26 to rank at No. 15 for the week. The has sold 89,038 copies to date since launch in the region.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D includes 30 missions, single or two-player network co-op play, and a skills and ability unlock system.

The final game includes a new Skill Slot to fill three slots with a selection of 30 skills, like weapons performance, reload speed or melee abilities.

The Nintendo 3DS handheld began sale Mar. 27 at $249.99.

The hardware is sold in Cosmic Black or Aqua Blue at $249.99 each.

First-party titles include Pilotwings Resort, Steel Diver, and nintendogs + cats.

Third-party titles include Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, The Sims 3, Madden NFL Football, Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, Ridge Racer 3D, Super Monkey Ball, Bust-A-Move Universe, Samurai Warriors, Asphalt 3D, Combat of Giants, Rayman 3D, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Shadow Wars.

Nintendo 3DS includes 3-D display technology that does not require the use of special glasses.
