EA Inc. this week demonstrated Need for Speed The Run for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.

The current Need for Speed The Run build included a destructive driving sequence through night-based streets to evade authority.

Users start by entering a squad car only to be quickly chased by a shooting helicopter.

In chase, the helicopter continues to cause destruction in pre-determined sequences in a frantic evasion with traffic in and out of tunnels.

Controls were solid through a little heavy in the squad car. Acceleration and braking were well-developed to offer a solid shot to evade a helicopter spotlight and on-road traffic.

The graphics engine was solid at 30 frames-per-second with plenty of destructive detail and lighting with the Frostbite 2.0 engine.

Sony in May began sale of the PS3 160GB Call of Duty: Black Ops Bundle, which includes the PS3 160GB hardware, a copy of Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, the Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike DLC Pack, and a Dualshock 3 Controller at $299.99.

Current Xbox 360 stand-alone SKUs include the Xbox 360 250GB hardware at $299.99 and the Xbox 360 4GB hardware at $199.99.

Bundle SKUs include the Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Special Edition Bundle at $399.99 and the Xbox 360 4GB with Kinect bundle at $299.99.
