Microsoft Corp. this week demonstrated Kinect Sports Season 2 for the Kinect hardware for the Xbox 360 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.

Kinect Sports Season 2 includes a new football game in which users can play quarterback and receiver.

For quarterback controls, users squat to ready the play then shout hike or stand up to hike. Users can side step to the left or right to choose an appropriate receiver before issuing a toss motion to throw.

For the receiver, a green icon will indicate that the player will successfully catch the ball, in which users must subsequently run or jump to evade the opposing team.

Motion controls were accurate and side-stepping was quick and intuitive to produce a winning pass.

The graphics engine held at 30 frames-per-second with simple and colorful visuals.

Microsoft in June said it has sold 10 million Kinect and 10 million stand-alone Kinect titles globally.

Kinect, released Nov. 4, sells at $149.99.

Kinect launch titles include Kinect Sports, Kinect Joy Ride, Kinect Adventures!, Kinectimals, Game Party: In Motion, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved, Dance Central, The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout, and Sonic Free Riders.

Bundle SKUs include the Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Special Edition Bundle at $399.99 and the Xbox 360 4GB with Kinect bundle at $299.99.
