Activision Blizzard Inc. this week said it will deploy a new premium online service called Call of Duty Elite.
Call of Duty Elite will launch in conjunction with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in Nov.
Activision will charge a monthly fee for the service, which is said to offer social functionality, competitions, premium map packs and tools like performance analytics.
The publisher has not disclosed pricing for the monthly subscription.
Standard online multiplayer functionality will still be included at no cost.
It will be sold Nov. 8.
Modern Warfare 3 is said to include new locations like New York, London and Paris, in addition to several lead characters.
Additionally, the sequel is said to include a co-op survival mode.
The title is said to be in development at Infinity Ward in collaboration with Sledgehammer Studios and Raven Software.
Activision Blizzard in 2010 released Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Sony in May began sale of the PS3 160GB Call of Duty: Black Ops Bundle, which includes the PS3 160GB hardware, a copy of Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, the Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike DLC Pack, and a Dualshock 3 Controller at $299.99.
