Media Create Co. this week said the Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in hardware sales in the latest Japan retail data.

The PS3 sold 22,265 units between Apr. 11 to Apr. 17 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.

The hardware ranked one title in the top 10 game sales, including THQ Inc.’s Homefront at No. 7 with 22,111 copies sold.

The Playstation 3 returned to top 10 sales this week amid a $50 Bonus promotion with purchase of the hardware.

Sony this week said the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3 is incurring new service outages.

The company Apr. 21 acknowledged certain functions of the Playstation Network are down.

Sales for the SOCOM 4 Playstation Move Ultimate Bundle ranked as the top-selling product at GameStop Corp.’s online division due to strong demand.

Sony this week demonstrated the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Multiplayer for the Playstation 3 to the press in a media event this month.

Uncharted 3 Multiplayer will include a loot of brand new modes, including 3 Team Deathmatch for 2 vs. 2 vs. 2, and Free For All.

A new feature in each mode is Power Play which will insert an advantage for the losing team in order to balance the kill score. Conversely the Power Play can allow the winning team to earn more cash to unlock custom add-ons.

Pre-order sales for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception for the Playstation 3 held strong this week at Amazon.com Inc. post reveal of the title’s Multiplayer component.

Sony this week said it has discontinue production of the PSPgo handheld amid slow sales of the product.

The PSP Go, released Oct. 2009, has held tepid demand in global territories. The all-digital handheld includes 16GB of flash memory to store download content.

The PSP sold 23,846 units to rank as the No. 2 game hardware for the week. The PSP go sold 207 units to rank No. 10 for the week.

The PSP ranked four titles in the top 10, Bandai Namco Inc.’s Super Robot Wars Z at No. 1.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware ranked seventh in the latest Japan retail figures.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,898 units between Apr. 11 to Apr. 17 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.

The hardware did not rank any software titles in the top 10 for the week.

Microsoft Corp. this week said it will sell the Kinect Sports: Calorie Challenge DLC in the Xbox Live division of the Xbox 360 Apr. 26.

The Kinect Sports: Calorie Challenge DLC will include lunch food and snack Avatar Calorie Rivals like Mighty Mike and Peppy Pizza. Each food mascot represents a calorie goal to burn off through a series of challenges.

Microsoft this week said it will offer free Xbox Live Gold service to Xbox 360 owners this week in a ‘Free Gold Weekend’ promotion.

In the event, Xbox Live Free members will have access to services normally reserved for Gold members.

In addition, Microsoft will hold an Xbox Nations event to help break the Guinness World Record for ‘largest online 100m sprint’ at 1PM EST, Apr. 23.

Pre-orders sales for Microsoft Corp. and Epic Games Inc.’s Gears of War 3 for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 horded the top three at GameStop Corp.’s online division post release of a Multiplayer Beta.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 8,122 units between Apr. 11 and Apr. 17 to rank No. 4 in overall sales.

New reports claim the Wii successor, dubbed Project Café, will have a three-core CPU, 6.2-inch touch-screen controller, and high-definition functionality.

The controller is said to be able to stream content from the console.

Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS handheld struck back at Sony Corp.’s PSP to take top hardware sales in the latest Japan tally.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 28,252 units between Apr. 11 and Apr. 17 to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the week.

The 3DS ranked two titles in the top 10, including Pilotwings Resort at No. 6 and Konami Corp.’s Pro Baseball Spirits 2011 at No. 9.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo DSi LL sold 7,724 units to rank No. 5, the Nintendo DSi sold 6,809 to rank No. 6, and the DS Lite sold 423 units to rank No. 9 in the same period.

The HTC Sensation 4G will include 1.2GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm CPU, 4.3-inch Super LCD qHD (540 x 940) capacitive touch screen, 4GB storage, 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash and 1080p HD recording functionality, front-facing camera, 4G support via HSPA+ and Google Inc.’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

The final unit will include HTC’s Sense 3.0 UI with new customizable active lock screen.
